In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced him to do an interview. 38 years later, Levitan, director Josh Raskin and illustrators James Braithwaite and Alex Kurina collaborated to create an animated short film using the original interview recording as the soundtrack.

3D Printed Animation

As 3D printing or Rapid Prototyping technologies progress and become cheaper they seem to be being adapted and used in ways in which they were never initially intended. Animation is one such industry that has adapted this technology. It was first truly exploited during the making of Coraline. Check out these two videos.

It was also recently used extensively during the making of the title sequence for Dutch TV program 'Het Klokhuis'. Take a look at the video and find out more about the project over at Creative Review.

The Next Industrial Revolution

Wired magazine has just published a fantastic article about what they are calling 'The Next Industrial Revolution'. It talks about in an age of open source, custom-fabricated, DIY product design, all you need to conquer the world is a brilliant idea. Well worth a read here.

Ernie Bakker's Olive Drop

My good friend Ernie Bakker has just launched his own product brand, Studio Ernie Bakker, His emphasis is on quality, British made products. His ideas come from re-working and creating new interpretations of existing forms, and then applying them to new products. Shown above is Ernie's fantastic 'Olive Drop' inspired by the classic game Kerplunk. It's available from the Hidden Art shop here.
