Berg's Little Printer

I'm not sure what to make of Berg's little printer. Part of me loves it and part of me thinks it's the type of object that could very quickly become obsolete. I do love the design though. Minimal with a touch of fun, just the way I like things.

Claus Mølgaard

It is often the technical aspects of making a design work that are the hardest things to get right. This is where Claus Mølgaard comes in. Take a look at some of the work he has done with top designers to help them make their ideas a reality. Link

The Invisible Bike Helmet

Nobody really enjoys wearing a bike helmet so maybe this is the answer. Designed by Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin the Hövding bike helmet is worn like a scarf and inflates just before impact using the same technology as car air bags. Check out the video to see it in action. Amazing.

Augmented Reality For SketchUp

With advances in CAD technology and 3D displays I think it's only a matter time before we start to see this kind of technology being included in many CAD packages. It looks like a nice way to be able to properly visualise your designs in the real world. Link

3D Printed Animation

As 3D printing or Rapid Prototyping technologies progress and become cheaper they seem to be being adapted and used in ways in which they were never initially intended. Animation is one such industry that has adapted this technology. It was first truly exploited during the making of Coraline. Check out these two videos.

It was also recently used extensively during the making of the title sequence for Dutch TV program 'Het Klokhuis'. Take a look at the video and find out more about the project over at Creative Review.

Stylophone BeatBox

What a fantastically annoying yet brilliant product. Link

Jointmaker Pro Saw

I'm pretty impressed by this. It looks particularly good at cutting little fiddly bits for model making. I want one!

Amazing Table Saw

Yes we're going to use a salty wet conductive all beef frank! This is amazing technology I just hope it doesn't encourage complacency.

The RapMan

Rapid Prototyping and Rapid Manufacturing has always been a process pretty far removed from a designers workspace but the RapMan could put an end to that. Costing an amazing £750 this self build Rapid Prototyping machine would surely make a nice addition to any designers toolkit. link
